SUITABLE FOR: Social workers and care managers, health service staff and voluntary sector workers.
AIMS: This course provides an introduction who wish to gain a basic grounding on the legal principles governing direct payments.
It will also provide in depth information for participants already familiar with the basic principles of the scheme. It focuses on the law and practice as it applies in Scotland.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Understand how recent legislation fits into the statutory framework.
- Understand the qualifying criteria and the ‘capacity’ required to manage a payment.
- Understand those services, service users and providers that are excluded from the scheme.
- Understand the process for calculating the amount of a direct payment and the conditions that can be attached to such a payment.
- Knowledge of likely future trends.
