The Carers Scotland Training Service is a well-established and highly respected training provider.
We offer a range of training initiatives tailored to meet the needs of staff in the statutory, voluntary and private sector, particularly those staff working in the health and social care field who provide, or plan services for carers.
The courses can be offered “ in-house” tailored to your particular requirements, and have proven to be a cost-effective way of providing training to staff groups.
The recent publication of a number of key reports: Building a Health Service fit for the Future (Kerr Report); Care 21, The Future of Unpaid Care in Scotland: Headline Report and Recommendations; the National Strategy for the Development of the Social Services Workforce 2005-2010: A Plan for Action; and the Carer Information Strategies Guidance highlight the critical importance of carer awareness training for staff working with carers in the field of health and social care.
Carers Scotland has successfully developed and delivered joint training to staff working with carers in the fields of health and social care on a number of topics including legislation, carers assessments and carer awareness. Our courses seek to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of health and social care staff thereby enhancing the quality and effectiveness of services provided by those staff. Examples of positive learning outcomes include:
Health and social care staff having a better awareness and understanding of the rights and needs of carers.
NHS staff being better able to identify carers, provide targeted information to carers and signpost them to local sources of support and advice.
Carers being informed of their rights and entitlements.
Carers being empowered and enabled to participate in the design, development and planning of services.
Health and social care staff working with carers as key partners in the delivery of community care.
Objective analysis and evaluation of the training performance consistently evidences excellence in the course content, quality of delivery and user satisfaction. It has confirmed that the training has had a significant impact in facilitating attitudinal and practice change within staff groups for example
