The Scottish Executive response to Care 21: the future of unpaid care in Scotland identified four initial priorities for action.  These are young carers, respite and short breaks, carers' health and training for carers.

A working group has been established to consider respite in detail and deliver advice on capacity to shape the case for extra resources  This section contains further information on the ongoing work of this group.

Draft Guidance on respite and short breaks is now available.  Carers Scotland have produced a summary for your information.  To ensure that as many carers as possible had their views heard, we also produced a questionnaire for carers.   The responses from carers helped inform our response to the consultation on draft guidance, which can be downloaded below.
