This major National Conference will explore how general practice and wider primary care staff can help support Scotland's 600,000 unpaid carers.  With many more people living longer, often with complex long term conditions, the role of unpaid carers is crucial to the long terms sustainability of community based health partnerships.  It is estimated that by 2037 there will be 1 million unpaid carers in Scotland.

The conference will be addressed by the Minister for Public Health, Shona Robison

It will provide an opportunity to:

• Examine the evidence of the benefits of promoting the positive health and wellbeing not just for unpaid carers but also for the looked after person, for general practice and for wider primary care services.
• Evaluate examples of best practice across Scotland
• Hear a carer’s perspective about the value of good health care services
• Provide you with a free practical toolkit to implement sustainable changes in practice.  This toolkit is simple and effective.
• Access a range of information to make available to carers.
