It can be difficult when caring seems to take over your life, but there are options available to you. Many carers also report that having time to themselves greatly reduces the strains and stresses of caring.

Work, learning and leisure

The Carers (Equal Opportunities) Act 2004 introduces new rights that ensure carers are given support so they can improve the balance between caring with leisure, work and learning activities.

Download the leaflet Balancing Life and Caring. As well as covering the basics of work, leisure and learning opportunities, it also talks you through the carer's assessment and lists a series of useful contacts.

The download is available in Punjabi, English, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Urdu and Gujarati.

Please note this leaflet is download only and not available in hard copy.
